 Welcome to Department of Pharmacology

Medical knowledge seems to be increasing at a rate that physicians find it overwhelming and somewhat challenging to keep up with the pace. At AUA our students are prepared for such challenge. The Medical Pharmacology course is designed to build a strong foundation of clinical study of therapeutics and their indications in various setting. The course includes a systematic study of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drugs as well as a thorough explanation of drugs effects, side effects, interactions, and black box warning.

Students are divided into groups at the end of each chapter and each group is challenged with a clinical case that is presented to the entire class. Students are also challenged with a weekly quiz to test their understanding of the class lectures. Pharmacology lectures are concise, practical tools that deliver the highest level of performance at the USMLE exams

Our goal at AUA is to emphasize the clinical aspect of pharmacology and to incorporate the latest update in drug development in the management of the various clinical conditions. Our course materials are updated every semester and highlighted with the practical information needed to bridge the students to the art of decision making in drug prescription and medical practice.
